I’ve known a number of would-be business owners who develop their idea in their spare time, keeping on the day job to pay the bills. This is fine so long as you are progressing towards the day when you’ll launch your business full time. Otherwise you have the worst of both worlds. You can’t generate or accept enough work to make the business financially viable because you don’t have the time. You can’t throw yourself into your paid job because your mind is on the business.

Summer is often a quieter time for presenters but at the moment, I'm still very busy. However it will be business and pleasure at the end of June, combining a speaking engagement with a visit to good friends and associates in Kirkby Lonsdale. Julie and John, who feature in my book, run a cheese shop there. You'll find a link to their attractive website in the 'Sites to Explore' section below. Whether you're working or playing (hopefully both), have a great summer.

Plug for 'Gulp!'

Published by Penguin, it's creative, comprehensive and motivating. 7 -days? Yes, it's do-able AND you can choose to follow the course over a longer period if it's a great big 'gulp'!

A word about why I'm plugging 'Gulp!' After all I've got my own book to promote haven't I? The coaching community is a generous one and fosters the notion of co-operation rather than competition. Gabriella and I brought our books out at roughly the same time and so agreed to send each other a copy.
